The Architecture of Oxford

£140 per group

Home to the first University in the English-speaking world, Oxford offers a treasure trove of history, art, architecture, literature, intellectual/scientific achievement, fierce Town and Gown rivalries, religious disputes, kings and queens and much else besides. A unique, magical place to explore in our company.

Currently applying for World Heritage Status, Oxford University and City offers a unique, and outstanding, secular, University and religious built environment to explore.  With an architectural guide, you will visit a number of key buildings as a basis for illustration and discussion of their architectural form, context, change and narrative intent through time within the broader historical context. Tours can include The Old Ashmolean Museum, Sheldonian Theatre, The Clarendon Building, Divinity School, and St Mary’s, and colleges.

Maximum of 6 people per guide.

The stunning buildings of an Oxford college. The arches, vaults, and spires of this college are visible in the sunlight. These architectural joys and more can be seen on the private walking tour of Oxford with Chris Peters.
